Thank you for visiting
The Heart!

We fell in love with our beautiful community and people the moment we moved here in 2006.  Raydeane is a native Idahoan and Jonathan was born and raised in South Carolina. We have two super cool kids, Seth and Jaymee, and were blessed with two more amazing kids Mikyah and Tofer, when they each married.  We have served as youth/associate pastors in Eureka, California, Boise, Idaho and Vancouver, Washington before God began to stir the beginnings of Heart of the City Church in our spirits.

We have an amazing team/staff we get to serve alongside.  Our community at The Heart has grown in an extraordinary way over the years with so many precious gifts (people) that are engaged in touching and impacting the lost, hurting, oppressed and neglected with the love of Jesus. We support several countries/missionaries and have church plants in Arizona and Honduras.  The Heart is truly a family that transcends age, ethnicity, and socio-economic status. Together, we are partnering with God to build his Kingdom here on earth.

We have weekend gatherings on Saturday night and Sunday morning with lots of small groups that meet through out the week:  From our food bank, to our equine ministry, bible studies, and hiking groups…there truly is something for everyone.  God never meant for us to do life alone. We believe we are better together.

We hope your visit to our website is just the first step to you personally finding your place at The Heart.

Blessings and love,

Pastors JO and Raydeane Owens

Our Distinctives

We love god’s word

We believe that the Bible is the infallible word of God. Therefore, it is the highest authority and final word in our lives.

We Prioritize God’s Presence

We believe that the Holy Spirit is working through the Church in the same way He did in the New Testament Scriptures. Therefore, we seek His presence, listen for His voice, and embrace all the gifts He has given.

We Pursue the Lost

We believe that the great commission is a central mandate for all believers. Therefore, we do all that we do with the lost in mind.

We Empower All Peoples

We believe that both men and women, regardless of age, race, or ethnicity, are called and anointed by God. Therefore, we release them to walk in the fullness of their God-given gifts, calling, and authority.

Health

HEALTH

We drink first and pour out second.

We seek daily personal encounters with God, prioritize family, and protect rest so we can lead others from a place of health.
Faith

FAITH

We trust God
over our experience.

We choose to live by faith and not by sight, confessing and believing that what God has spoken takes precedence over how things appear.
Holiness

HOLINESS

We pursue
purity.

We commit ourselves to integrity and character, living lives set apart because God is holy and has called us to be holy.
Humility

HUMILITY

We haven’t
arrived.

We place ourselves in a posture of readiness to learn from others, knowing we will always have the room to grow.
Honor

HONOR

We see the gold
and say the gold.

We look for the best in people and situations and celebrate it, holding each other in high regard and seeking to view things as God does.
Unity

UNITY

We support down
and question up.

We believe that God blesses unity and that it is our witness to the world, so we have zero tolerance for gossip and other divisive behavior.
Forgiveness

FORGIVENESS

We don’t hold offense.

We walk in forgiveness, no matter how we feel, understanding that God has forgiven us of more than we could ever forgive another person.
Generosity

GENEROSITY

We give because
we love.

We live out the phrase, “let generosity be the boss of me,” by giving our time, our talents, and our treasures to God first and then to others.
ZealZEAL
We live wholeheartedly.

We worship, pray, and minister with zeal, not from performance but from the heart, refusing to slip into apathy or indifference about God and people.
Truth

TRUTH

We seek clarity
over comfort.

We value people enough to speak the truth in love and have necessary conversations, even when they are difficult.
Excellence

EXCELLENCE

We bring our first
and best.

We do the best that we can do with the best that we have, because God is worthy of nothing less.
Authenticity

AUTHENTICITY

We don’t
play church.

We are committed to living authentically, staying true to who God made us to be. His design for us takes precedence over how we feel.
