The Heart!

In the summer of 2006, the Owens family was sent out on the wild adventure of church planting to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. JO & Raydeane, my parents and our founding pastors, brought my sister, Jaymee, and me, along with a team of 12 adults and launched The Heart in our living room that July. They had served as youth/associate pastors in Eureka, California; Boise, Idaho; and Vancouver, Washington before God began to stir the beginnings of The Heart in their spirits. At the time, I was 14 years old and just about to begin my first year of high school. I didn’t want to move. I didn’t want to plant a church. And I certainly didn’t want to be a pastor.

It’s amazing how God can transform a heart. Eight years later, I would come on staff as worship pastor and administrative support. That same summer, my amazing wife, Mikyah and I were married. I would labor alongside my parents for the next 12 years, as the Lord continued to lead, bless, and grow our church community. During that time, God gave my wife and me our two precious boys, Jameson and Waylon. We are truly living a life beyond what we could hope for.

In July of 2026, as we celebrated 20 years as a church, JO & Raydeane passed the baton of leadership, and I now have the privilege of serving as our lead pastor. I believe the Lord has given us a vision for 30 years: The Heart 2056. It includes going from two church plants to ten, moving from two campuses to ten, a K-12 Christian school, a Christian college, and a holistic equipping center, called The Wholeness Center.

I want to thank you for taking the time to look into who we are at The Heart. As much as we try to give a snapshot on our website, there is no digital substitute for joining us for what we believe is a truly non-downloadable experience. I am personally excited to meet you. We hope that you will find The Heart to be a place that you can call “home.”
